Tag: Protests

Protests marches and demonstrations are a common nonviolent tactic. Some demonstrations and protests can turn, at least partially, into riots or mob violence against objects such as automobiles and businesses, bystanders and the police. Peaceful protests are protected by the United States Constitution provided they follow Federal and State guidelines and laws.

Violent protests are unlawful. Individuals who insight violence to person or property are subject to penalties under the law punishable by fines or incarceration based on the severity of the offense and the decision of the court.
